
Michael Boyer
1957-03-30 2013-12-02Michael Boyer, 56, of Huntsville, passed away Monday after succumbing to heart failure. Mr. Boyer was born in Port Clinton, Ohio and moved to Huntsville in 1960 when his father joined the Army Missile Command. Michael graduated from Butler High School in 1975 and graduated from UAB in 1980 with a Double-Degree BA in Political Science and Urban Studies. After working with the Birmingham Civil Rights Initiative in 1981, Boyer began a lifetime career as a Location Coordinator for feature films, television movies, music videos and documentaries. Boyer coordinated over 150 film location projects including “Fried Green Tomatoes,” “The Big Fish,” “Driving Miss Daisy” and “Forrest Gump.” Television film projects include “The Rosa Parks Story,” “Selma, Lord, Selma,” “Four Little Girls and “The Long Walk Home” and numerous music videos.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Boyer Graham; brother, Mark Boyer; sister-in-law, Mona Boyer; nephew, Connor Boyer; and niece, Sarah Boyer. Also surviving Boyer are step-brother, Tommy Graham; sister-in-law, Linda Graham; nephew, Jonathan Graham; in addition to step-sister, Teri Christianson; niece, Rachel Sims Held; and nephew, Joey Sims.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with a “unique” memorial service starting at 2:00 p.m. with Keith Byrd and Julie Bass Berry officiating and guest eulogies by friends and family. During the visitation, a video tribute will be shown in the chapel prior to the service.
