Merlin Green
Such a wonderful, kind, loving, funny brother a girl could have! I love and miss you so much!
tribute by Carole AndersonI grew up across the street from Merlin, and he and I were best friends from the time we were 6 years old. I loved him to death and always had a secret crush on him, but never told him. I mean, how much do you know about love at 10? He loved life to the fullest. He loved his motorcycles, as his first mode of moving fast. At first all he was allowed to go up and down our street and he went fast! Fast enough to shake our windows! Then he went through many cars and he was only 16. Our house was across the edge of a circle, for any of you that lived on Brookline or in that area. We had three circles and their backyard was on the right side entrance of the middle circle, and their back yard was right across from our front yard. One night I woke up in the middle of the night, seeing flashing lights bouncing around in our house. I got up and went into the living room and my parents were there, looking out the front window. There were cop cars, firetrucks, and an ambulance. I asked my parents what was going on and they told me to go back to bed. The next morning I woke up early, still wondering what had happened at Merlin's house the night before. My parents were up and dressed, sitting at the breakfast table, waiting for me. They told me to sit down, and then told me that my best friend, the boy I had grown up with for 10 years, had taken his own life in his backyard--directly across from our front window. I lost it--and I never have found it. I still miss him, and always will. He was funny, cute, sexy, down to earth, loved his "transportation", loved the girls and from what I saw, dated quite a few. He is the first person that ever told me a "snake in the grass" joke and a "snake in the cave" joke, and of course I didn't get them for a long time!! He was such a wonderful person, and would have made an awesome adult. If you didn't know him, you missed a lot. And I mean a lot. I will always love you, Merlin..........and so will everyone who's life you touched.
