Guy Phillip Boos, Sr.
1957 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Guy Phillip Boos, Sr., 57, of 127 Gamwell Avenue, passed away Thursday, April 30, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Aug. 12, 1957, the son of Frances Gilbert Boos, and the late Guy H. Boos. Guy P. Boos, Sr. was a 1976 graduate of Taconic High School and a graduate of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Reserve Intermittent Police Academy. A painting contractor by trade, Mr. Boos owned and operated Guy P. Boos Painting and Papering for twenty-eight years. He was also a Deputy Sheriff employed by the Berkshire County House of Correction. He had also worked at The Berkshire Eagle. He was an active participant in Bicycles Battling Cancer and Tour de Cure for Diabetes. He was a sports enthusiast and an Alabama football fan - ROLL TIDE! He coached all levels of football, baseball, and basketball and he loved to exercise and enjoyed working out. Guy leaves the love of his life, his wife, the former Melinda J. McGuigan, whom he married on Aug. 25, 1984. Besides his wife and his mother, Guy leaves his children, Matthew Harrison and his wife, Janelle, of Worcester; daughters, Kylie Boos and her fiance, Erik Ackerman, of Carlisle, N.Y., Kacey Boos of Austin, Texas, Kortney Boos of Austin, Texas; and son, Guy P Boos, Jr., of Pittsfield, a student at UMass Amherst. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Boos of Durham, N.C., Kathryn Clatterbaugh and her husband, Mark, of Pittsfield, Pat McNeill of Rowlett, Texas; and Pam Cowan and her husband, Roy, of Huntsville, Ala.; his twin brother, George Boos of Houston, Texas; and many dear nieces, nephews, and friends. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 6, at 12 noon at South Congregation Church, 110 South Street, Pittsfield, with Pastor Russell Moody, Sheriff's Department Chaplain, officiating. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 5, from 4 - 7 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., in Pittsfield. A celebration of Guy's life will be held on Fathers' Day, June 21, from 12 noon until 6 p.m. at the Dalton American Legion.
